Science: Boon or Bane?

Modern age is the age of science where every aspect of life is supplemented with technological innovations. Science has miraculous power. It has spread the spheres of knowledge and performance of man who has tamed many of the natural phenomena in order to fulfill his needs. No place is inaccessible and no novelity is impossible. Due to science and technology, the word has contracted and human life has become comfortable.

Electricity, television, radio and telephone are marvellous achievements of science. Giant machines run electricity. TV's broadcast live the incidents of any parts throughout the world. Thousands of satellites operate from the earth's orbit. Computers are used everywhere. Internet has given undreamed access to learners. There are speaking computers for blind people. Agricultural works have been heavily mechanized. Industries are based on division of labour and factory productions. Every time Large ships with millions of tons of cargoes are crossing the vast oceans.

There has been revolution in medical fields as well. Major surgical operations to mend or replace very sensitive parts or organs in the heart and brain have been possible. Stones from such as kidney can be removed without surgical operations. Now many diseases such as polio, measles and smallpox have been eradicated through vaccination. Even cancer is now curable. So life has prolonged with the application of science.

There are new sources of earning and new methods of spending leisure in the modern time. A tourist enjoys traveling into the space. Aircrafts fly at atmospheric speed. Skyscrapers have been erected even on the sea. Roads pass through long tunnels. Eskimos are now living in heated room. Robots do man's chores. Goods from any corner of the world can be obtained at doorstep on call. Actually, science seems to have no limitations. the future world is sure to be enriched by more amazing and effectual innovation.

Science has not only bettered human life but also has posed it into greater risks and challenges. Fears of accident have risen. Environment has been badly polluted with new diseases ever emerging. Computers have replaced manual jobs, leaving millions of workers jobless, With new facilities and services, man has obtained comfort but satisfaction . He is growing lazy and lavish. He has become a slave of technologies . Science has also boosted the brutal aspect of a man. Production of new warfare technology has posed the danger of more devastating wars. The whole world can be destroyed in a few seconds.

But is not to be blamed for man's evil nature. If a sickle made a blacksmith for cutting grass is used for slaying a man, it is not the fault of the creator or his technology. Whether to make science boon or bane is up to human conscience. Einstein  didn't expert his atom  bomb to be used to kill thousands of innocent civilians. The way we handle the achievements of science and technology will determine the future of the mankind.
